Alfred Glover studied at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston Massachusetts, where is was a Fine Arts major and a student of Robert Douglas Hunter; and at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown, where he was a student of Henry Hensche.

He is currently a professor of sculpture at Cape Cod Community College; and has been an instructor, guest lecturer, and artist in residence at numerous institutions in Massachusetts.

Alfred has lived and worked in his Cataumet studio on Cape Cod for the
past twenty-eight years. He is renowned for his inventive and brilliantly colored
whimsical three dimensional works, furniture, lamps, mirrors and fine
art sculptures. He works in
various mediums, including wood, assemblage, and bronze.

"Trained as a painter, I have incoroprated
two-dimensional elements of form, design and color in my
three-dimensional wood sculpture. I am a collector, beachcomber, and
naturalist; and these interests have inspired me to push the sculptural
medium in my own unique direction. My creations are sometimes
realistic, sometimes imaginary, but always whimsical. Both pink
flamingos and stolid gray pelicans flank my studio door, with a purple
tiger lurking around the corner. My love of animals and concern for the
animal kingdom, all of which I consider endangered, is paramount to my
visual expression. I hope people, by viewing my work, will become more
conscious of the beauty and fragility of the world around us."

Alfred's work is included in numerous private and corporate collections, and is used by designers for the interior and exterior decor of many restaurants throughout Massachusetts. His works include a large indoor permanent sculpture at Childrens Hospital, a permanent large-scale outdoor sculpture at Cape Cod Community College, an indoor hut for the children's reading room at Falmouth Public Library, figurative bench groupings at Hingham Public Library, and works at the Tipton Indian Public Library and the Cape Cod Museum of Art.
